CONTENT -- subject coverage should be comprehensive and relevant;
RELIABILITY -- subject data must be credible;
AUTHORITY -- dependability of the person or organization responsible for the creation of the Web site must be verifiable;
ATTRIBUTION -- references and sources for all content should be clear with relevant copyright information noted;
AUTHORSHIP -- affiliations and relevant credentials of authors and contributors should be provided;
CURRENCY -- there should be an emphasis on currency with dates indicated when content was posted and updated; and
DISCLOSURE -- Web site ownership should be prominently and fully disclosed, along with any sponsorship, advertising, underwriting, commercial funding arrangements or support, or potential conflicts of interest, including arrangements in which links to other sites are posted as a result of financial considerations.
When the criteria listed above have been met, the following are considered:
FORMAT -- Web sites should be easy to use, with a high level of retrievability, navigational consistency, and searchability; and
DESIGN -- text should be easy to read; graphic images should be relevant, creative and of logical use; and the organization of data should be of inherent quality.
